ZURICH, Switzerland: The International Society of Surgery (ISS) has decided to postpone the International Surgical Week (ISW) by one year. The biannual meeting, which provides an educational platform for surgeons, trainees and students from around the world, will now take place from 28 August to 1 September 2022 in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

It will be the 49th World Congress of the International Surgical Week and will be jointly organised with the 48th Congress of the College of Surgeons Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. Attendees may learn from some of the world’s leading experts of the global surgical community. ISW 2022 will provide a platform for scientific and clinical working groups to establish the foundations for future diagnostic and surgical challenges, discuss novel approaches and standards, facilitating progress towards real-time and patient-oriented solutions.

In addition, ISW 2022 will feature a trade exhibition that includes organisations, companies and manufacturers related to clinical and experimental surgery.

The ISS was founded in 1902 in Belgium. The first international congress of the society took place in Brussels three years later.
